What to bring on Retreat!

Essential Items for overseas travellers:
 
  • Plane tickets - arrange your own travel
  • Passport with at least 6 months before expiry
  • Valid Australian visa
  • Travel Insurance documents

For all those attending the retreat in person
Personal Items - Essential:

 
  • Torch is a good idea especially if you are camping.
  • Raincoat or umbrella is always a good idea
  • Power adapter (if coming from overseas)
  • Power board - a good idea
  • Toiletries - (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, moisturising creams, deodorant and so on)
  • Your doctor ‘s prescriptions etc
  • Antibacterial hand gel / wipes
  • Tissues for your use
  • Water bottle
  • Travel cup


Suggestions:
 
  • Mala beads if you have them
  • Prayer shawl if you have one
  • Spiritual journal and pen (can just be an exercise book if you don’t have a special journal)
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Needle and thread for running repairs
  • Safety pins
  • Ipod, earphones or travel dock
  • Mobile Phone (with roam facility if travelling from overseas (arrange with your provider before you leave),
  • Charging cables for your phone/laptop.
  • Book to read (spiritual or personal development preferably)
  • Camera
  • Bottle of Isocol or similar for receiving or giving sweeps

Clothes:
 
  • Average Temperatures: Daily high temperatures typically range from 17°C - 20°C (62°F to 68°F).
    Nighttime Temperatures: Lows are generally around 5°C- 10°C (41°F- 50°F.
    Conditions: The period is cold and there may be a little rain.  
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for in the temple (long pants, long skirts, conservative tops nothing tight or see through, no cleavage).
  • A warm shawl would be recommended for temple use.
  • Comfortable walking shoes, no need for dress shoes
  • Footwear that is easy to slip off for going into temples
  • Warm Socks for wearing at our sessions
  • Will need Raincoat/jacket/umbrella in case of wet weather
  • Comfortable clothing for lounging when not at the ashram

Food:
 
  • A simple breakfast (porridge, choice of 2 cereals, toast and condiments and fruit) and morning tea will be provided.  There will be some gluten free/dairy free options.  For any other dietary requirements please bring what you need.
  • Alcohol is not allowed
  • Can be a good idea to bring some healthy munchies (muesli bars, nuts, sultanas, etc)
  • Tea bags, herbal teas, coffee will be provided
  • Remember it’s a purification retreat, healthy snacks are recommended 
 
General Information for those coming from overseas:
  • Travel insurance is compulsory for people coming from overseas – a copy of your policy is required to be emailed to retreats@shaktidurga.com with subject: India Insurance Guru Poornima July 2026
  • Money Update for those coming from overseas: It is easy in Australia to exchange cash or use ATM's. Most cards are accepted in Australian shops and businesses.
