What to bring

Essential Items:

Travelling from Overseas:

  • Plane tickets - arrange your own travel
  • Passport with at least 6 months before expiry
  • Valid Australian visa*
  • Travel Insurance documents 

* Visa Requirements
If you are coming from overseas you will need to apply for a visitor visa.


Personal Items - Essential:


  • Torch
  • Power adapter for the UK.
  • Power board - a good idea
  • Toiletries - (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, moisturising creams, deodorant and so on)
  • Your doctor ‘s prescriptions etc
  • Antibacterial hand gel / wipes
  • Insect repellent
  • Tissues for your use
  • Sippy cup with lid for in the temple (no open cups will be allowed)

Suggestions:

 
  • Mala beads if you have them
  • Prayer shawl if you have one
  • Spiritual journal and pen (can just be an exercise book if you don’t have a special journal)
  • Small backpack for outings
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Umbrella and wet weather coat
  • Needle and thread for running repairs
  • Safety pins
  • Ipod, earphones or travel dock
  • Mobile Phone (if travelling from overseas: with roam facility which you can arrange with your provider before you leave), or an Australian SIM card which you can purchase when you arrive in Australia.   You must have a mobile that is not locked to a telecommunications company to use with another SIM. i.e if your phone is under contract with your phone provider it will not work with another SIM card
  • Book to read (spiritual or personal development preferably)
  • Camera
  • Bottle of Isocol or similar for receiving or giving sweeps
  • Yoga Mat

Clothes:

  • Conservative clothing, suitable for temple spaces
  • Expect temperatures between 13°-22°Celsius (55.4°-71.6°F)
  • Comfortable walking shoes, no need for dress shoes
  • Raincoat/jacket, umbrella
  • Jacket, shawl, footwear joggers, socks
  • Footwear suitable for around cows (eg steel-capped boots, or boots with solid toe support
  • Comfortable clothing for lounging when in your room
  • Swimwear - possibly warm enough to visit the beach

Food:

  
  • Dinner first day, then breakfast and lunch each day is included..
  • Meals other than those stated are not included
  • Alcohol is not allowed during the retreat
  • You may like to bring some healthy munchies (muesli bars, nuts, sultanas, etc), airtight plastic bags / container to protect from ants etc. , tea bags and herbal teas
  • Remember it’s a purification retreat, healthy snacks are recommended
  • If you have special dietary requirements please bring what you require or buy on your arrival (e.g. gluten free, especially for breakfast)  

General Information:

  • Travel insurance is compulsory for overseas participants – a copy of your policy is required to be emailed to retreats@shaktidurga.com with subject: Initiates  Insurance 2025
